Sher black, J.D.
Hello,
My name is Sher Black, and I am a suicide loss survivor, a suicidologist, and a certified suicide investigator (certified by the American Association of Suicidology). It is my hope to create with Suicide M.O.M.S. an environment that exudes warmth as we come together to extend solace and offer support to those affected by suicide and suicidality. Through my personal journey and professional expertise, I aspire to offer support to individuals and loved ones who have been impacted by suicidality and suicide loss. One of the ways in which I hope to help others is by offering supportive services to assist with life reviews which, hopefully, will help discern answers to "why?" questions.
As someone who has experienced the heart-shattering suicide of a loved one (my 23 year-old daughter, Elyse), I understand the grief that can overwhelm loss survivors as they attempt to navigate in the wake of such a devastating loss. It is my belief that performing a deep-dive review of the lives of our departed loved ones can facilitate a deeper understanding of the corrosive mental processes that, ultimately, culminate in the formation of an overwhelming desire for escape. This understanding has the power to bring us peace and, hopefully, provide soothing insights to those treading a similar path.
And it is not just survivors of a suicide loss who struggle to find peace; people currently facing the challenges of suicidality and the people who love them, also struggle to find it. Sometimes those struggling with persistently corrosive thoughts do not themselves fully comprehend why this is happening, which leads to a sense of powerless and hopelessness.
As a result of my training as a suicide investigator, coupled with my experience doing hundreds of investigations, I hope to offer insightful life reviews of those who may have tragically died by suicide; and I often wonder whether a suicide could have been prevented had a life review occurred while the individual was still alive and able to change their trajectory.
It is my belief that understanding brings illumination of a path to peace. If you are interested in hearing more, feel free to contact me using the link below.
Warm Regards and Wishes for Peace,
Sher Black
