Finding peace after loss
"Let Go or Be Dragged"
"Let Go or be dragged" is a Zen proverb counseling us that, to find peace, we must let go of the thoughts and things that are dragging us down emotionally; To let Go of that which we cannot change.
FOR THOSE MOURNING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE, THE FOLLOWING MAY ALSO BRING SOME PEACE:
Physics: Einstein's Law of Conservation of Energy
Energy (including life-force energy) cannot be created nor destroyed; it merely changes form. Our deceased loved ones must, therefore, continue to exist albeit no longer in physical form.
Psychiatry: Viktor Frankl's Observation
Between stimulus and response there is a space, and in that space resides our power to choose a response. While we may be powerless to prevent the suicide of another, within its wake we remain sovereign to choose a response that brings us peace.
